The Quadrilateral Biennial was initiated in 2005 focusing on contemporary art practices in the neighboring region of Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia. First BQ considered relativism, the second crisis of cultural heroes, and the third angles and intersection of media art. In its 4th edition, the Biennial embraced the challenge of exploring the open-ending and nomadic character of contemporary art, beyond regional and national boundaries, thus reviewing its regional focus in the broader, multilateral framework.
